Talpra Magyar!

by Karen
(Portland, OR, USA)

I had a great time learning Hungarian when I lived in Nyirbator in the 1990s. I even took the Hungarian state language exam at the end of it, just for fun. I was a Peace Corps volunteer (Bekeszolgalat)and we had great language teachers who helped us to be able to really make friends with our Hungarian communities. (I still remember "Talpra Magyar! Hi a Haza! Itt az ido. Most vagy soha! Rabok legyunk or szabadok. Valaszatok! Valaszatok!")
